Pauline Holdsworth Wins Portfolio Gold Award

Pauline Holdsworth, daughter of Pennsylvania Center for the Book’s Advisory Board member Derrick Holdsworth and recent State College High School graduate, has been awarded the Portfolio Gold Award by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers through its Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program.  This prestigious award is the Alliance’s highest honor, bestowed previously on such notable figures such as Joyce Carol Oates, Andy Warhol, and Robert Redford.   Holdsworth plans to use her $10,000 prize money to attend the University of Toronto.

Besides winning this award,Pauline Holdsworth won the Level I Pennsylvania Letters About Literature  prize, covering grades four through six, for her letter to Tamora Pierce about Alanna - The First Adventure
