Goals for Parents and Caregivers (to Model, Prompt and Praise)
 

1. Noticing and praising children's emerging literacy skills: listening, answering, reading, turn-taking, talking about the alphabet, thinking about first letters of words

2. Finding items in alphabetical order

3. Using a pronunciation guide for reading words

4. Enjoy sharing non-fiction books by looking at pictures and choosing ones to read about

5. Learning and then teaching the words and actions for a finger rhyme

6. Enjoy extending a reading experience through playing a guessing game

1. Crayons to share among children

2. Copy of The Furry Animal Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta for program leader

3. Copies of The Furry Animal Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta for families
