Throughout this story, the main character speaks in talking bubbles as he makes the difficult trek through a snowy world. Discuss with children what the boy might be thinking on each double-page spread of the story that doesn’t include talking bubbles. Encourage children to use the boy’s expressions and his body language to help think about how he feels and what his thoughts might be on the journey.
Explain to families the importance of imaginative play for children. Encourage families to support their children’s creativity and go on an imaginative adventure through the house or backyard with their child. Whether the dog next door becomes a dangerous tiger or a flight of stairs is a steep mountain, children will love sharing their adventure with an adult.
